Search for a Pre- and Post-burst Hard X-ray Emission of Swift GRBs
Abstract
We search for a pre- and post-burst emission of GRBs using the BAT survey data. By using the sophisticated ground survey script, we are able to search for a weak emission with a better sensitivity than the BAT on-board software. To investigate the pre-burst emission, we process the survey data starting from fifteen pointings before the GRB trigger. This corresponds to 3-5 hours prior to the GRB trigger time. For the post-burst emission, we process the survey data for all the GRB pointing observations to investigate the correlation with the Swift XRT and UVOT afterglow data. Our analysis constrains the GRB on-set time of the prompt emission. Furthermore, our analysis also provides the information about the level of the hard X-ray flux during the X-ray flares and the plateau phase in the X-ray afterglow light curve. We investigate a possible "afterglow" emission in the hard X-ray band by stacking all the BAT post-burst data.
